Eagarly Editing

My partner and I finally finished filming all of the clips, so we began the editing process. We sat down in media studies and together we starting reviewing each clip we had taken through the duration of filming. As we watched, we either "favorited" the videos we liked or trashed them. After going through them all it was time for our individual work. We divided the batch of video clips for my partner & me to work on. My batch was the clips for the first half of the commercial. We want the audience to understand that our actor is a student walking into school. To give the right feel and effect to our opening scene, I wanted to add the right sound. I searched youtube for a gate opening sound until I found the perfect one and edited it to fit the time management. Next, I put each of the clips together along with the gate sound to make a rough draft with them. After there were aligned, I started to search for background music for the commercial. Since the plot follows an alternative teen, I found music that suited that theme. The song I choose is Deviltown by Cavetown. Once I had the song picked out, I had to find the right 30 seconds from the song to place in the commercial. I didn't want too many lyrics and the beginning of the song has the right sound with very few lyrics. After editing the background noises, it was time to add the transitions in between scenes. Editing clips to have the right look and feel that we want to achieve is more difficult than I thought. My partner has more experience with editing so I watched and learned from him. He was a big help with adding the transitions that I chose for the clips I was working on. Editing is a longer process than I expected but lucky the transitions were added before the end of class. I rewatched the clips a couple of times to make sure there were no mistakes. I moved the computer over to my partner so he could check them as well. We found no mistakes and thus the three clips were complete!
