On Saturday, November 27 our group started filming. Our main goal was to film the first 6 slides of our storyboard. We went to our local mall and since we didn’t need to set up any props or put on any costumes; we found a good spot a just began filming. Since it was the day after Black Friday, it was pretty crowded so it took a little bit of time to find a clear place for us to film. We found a less-traveled section of the mall in the very back of the second floor. There were stores in this section but they weren't the big retail types so it still looked like the mall without all the holiday shoppers. I was the main cameraman as my character was only on screen for two clips. It was a little difficult getting on the same page with my team because I misunderstood at first what my group members wanted. As they were directing me in terms of angles and time, I kept slipping up or having to ask them again to explain. The third time they explained it to me, their directions...

   Slide 1: This will be a forward tracking shot following an unpopular girl with insecure acting being followed by the human embodiment of "Jealousy" through a mall. The music will start playing instantly. At the end of the shot, the unpopular will look longingly past the camera  Slide 2: This scene will be a shaky point of view shot of the unpopular girl looking at the popular girl and her friends having fun and laughing in the mall. As she looks closer, the camera will zoom in on just the popular girl and pan downwards to highlight her trendy clothing.  Slide 3: In a two-shot that will pan between Jealousy and the unpopular girl, Jealousy will point out the unpopular girl's clothes and lack of style, first starting from her sweater then working down to her shoes. Props: Our music video is simple when it comes to props. Our main props will be an iPhone since it is critical for the storyline. Costumes:  Since each member will be in the video, each one will have their own costume according to their character. In regards to our main character, she will be wearing comfortable attire and simple shoes. Our next character who is the embodiment of jealousy will be wearing unnatural makeup with bright colored clothes that cover most of his body. Finally, the last character will be wearing a skirt, t-shirt, and jewelry. Our  group is doing a pop song by Olivia Rodrigo, called “jealousy, jealousy.” The audience is told a story by the lyrics and the varying settings of the music video.    Mis-En-Scene:   i. They wear costumes that coincide with their lyrics and setting, for example, a song that has a setting in school might be a school uniform or casual attire like a  blouse and trousers . It can also be fancy, semi-formal, or flashy.  A common feature in  the majority of  music videos is bright colors, darker colors are not seen as much.   ii.  Props include microphones and different instruments. They are meant as supporting components for the subject of the scene. If the song has an underlying tone or message, the props can be used as symbolism.    iii.  The lighting is typically colorful although when darker colors are used, they are for contrast to make the brighter colors pop.   I was given the chance to choose up to 4 partners for this project. Though it is often highly discouraged by teachers to pick friends as partners. I chose two of my closest friends to help me with this project. Firstly, there is my close friend Michael who always sits next to me throughout the media studies class and was my partner on our first Media Studies project. I choose him because we work well together and he has a similar work ethic to mine. He also believes project tasks should be done expeditiously and works hard to make sure of that. He is very creative which is helpful when it comes to projects such as these. From choosing which angles and camera light we should use, to crafting the storyboard, he grasps all the aspects we need.   Hello, My name is Mia. I am 15 years old and this is my first year taking AICE Media Studies.  I'm excited to be a part of this class because I have always wanted to explore filmmaking and become a better storyteller. I joined this class not only for the learning opportunities but more importantly to one day pursue a career in the entertainment and filmmaking industry. I find myself analyzing the details of shows I watch as to what makes a movie or television show great. Some would say I have an eye for the process and the details that go into different shows, but I have yet to gain experience working on one of my own. The closest I have been was a 7th-grade group assignment in which we had to make a music video about Math. We were tasked with creating lyrics and video footage about math formulas.
